Weekly Classes
Pre-K Social at Clairmont Advanced Education Center is a vibrant and engaging weekly session where learning and fun coexist harmoniously. The program is meticulously crafted to enhance a child’s ability in reading, writing, and math while simultaneously nurturing their ability to form friendships and interact socially.
Kindergarten Readiness and Social Skills
Phonemic awareness is cultivated through interactive activities focusing on sounds, blending, and segmentation. Lowercase alphabet mastery is achieved using the Handwriting Heroes program, emphasizing multisensory learning and grouping letters for efficiency. We excel in instilling a robust number sense in children by teaching them to correlate objects with their respective number words, thereby enhancing their counting skills.
A Fun Way to Learn a Variety of Topics
Color recognition and the exciting world of color mixing are introduced, expanding their creative and artistic horizons. Furthermore, we emphasize the development of critical thinking and logical reasoning through diverse activities like puzzle building, scavenger hunts, and innovative reasoning games. This rich tapestry of learning experiences ensures that each child in our Pre-K Social class is well-equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to thrive in kindergarten and beyond.
Here’s a snapshot of the kindergarten readiness skills we develop in Pre-K Social
- Phonemic Awareness Skills
Focusing on the foundational elements of reading, this module emphasizes beginning and ending sounds, rhyming, blending, and segmenting sounds. This skill set is vital for early literacy and helps children decode words more efficiently, setting the stage for successful reading development. - Lowercase Alphabet Mastery
Through the multi-sensory Handwriting Heroes program, children master the lowercase alphabet, learning to draw and construct each letter. This method effectively addresses common challenges like letter reversals by grouping letters based on stroke similarity, enhancing both letter formation skills and phonemic awareness. - Numbers and Counting
We develop a strong number sense in children through 1:1 correspondence exercises, linking each counted object with a number word. This approach lays a solid foundation for mathematical understanding, crucial for future academic success in math. - Color Recognition and Mixing
Our program introduces children to a spectrum of colors, engaging them in the creative process of color mixing. This activity not only enhances color recognition but also encourages artistic expression and exploration. - Creative Thinking and Logical Reasoning
Through stimulating activities like puzzle building, scavenger hunts, and reasoning games, we foster both creative thinking and logical reasoning skills. These exercises are designed to sharpen problem-solving abilities and encourage innovative thinking in young learners.
