STEM Club at Clairmont Advanced Education Center offers a captivating and interactive weekly adventure for first to third grade students, igniting their innate curiosity and passion for the wonders of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. This engaging course is thoughtfully designed to introduce young minds to the fascinating world of STEM through a series of hands-on lessons, games, and activities that are both educational and immensely fun.

Creatively Solving Problems

As part of our unique approach, students are introduced to fundamental principles of science and technology in an environment that encourages exploration and discovery. For instance, through Lego building challenges, children learn about basic engineering concepts and the importance of structural integrity, while simultaneously developing their problem-solving skills and creativity. Additionally, lessons about Archimedes’ principle not only introduce them to historical scientific figures but also provide practical knowledge about buoyancy and density in a way that’s easy to grasp and remember.

For Kindergarten-3rd Grade

By participating in Clairmont’s STEM Club, students don’t just learn; they embark on a journey of discovery and innovation. The club lays a strong foundation for their future academic pursuits, instilling a lifelong love for STEM disciplines that will benefit them for years to come.

Indoor and Outdoor

Indoor and outdoor activities are planned throughout the year, adapting to different seasons and weather conditions. Outdoor sessions, for example, might include nature-based science experiments or examining and documenting the growth in our vegetable garden, ensuring that learning is always dynamic and connected to the world around them.

Hands-on Learning

Engineering exercises, such as bridge-building with various materials, enhance their understanding of real-world applications and the significance of design in engineering. Math activities are woven seamlessly into each session, from tessellations to creating angles in marshmallow and toothpick architecture, ensuring that mathematical concepts are reinforced in a practical and enjoyable manner.

Student Pick-Up and Drop-Off

The student drop-off/pick-up location is at the valet booth entrance in the back of the building.
After 4:15pm pick-up and drop-off is on the third floor.

Maximum class size per schedule is 6 students.
